Troyan is a regional Capital in the Stara Planina Mountain Range. It is situated 160 km from Sofia, 245km from Bourgas on the southern Black Sea coast, and 340km from Varna on the Northern Black sea Coast.
Troyan has a rapidly developing tourist industry. It has been recognised by the Bulgarian Government as meeting the criteria for further tourist development because of its natural beauty, abundence of places of interest, climate, good transport links and developed infrastructure.
The area is fast becoming known as a centre for balneology (the health giving benefits of mineral springs) at Shipkovo and Chiflik, Skiing and countryside pursuits at Beklemeto, and the arts and culture in Troyan town.
The area has not been touched by mass tourism, making it a mecca for ecotourism. Set in the Central Balkan National Park (the largest in Bulgaria), there are endless opportunities for walking, mountain biking or riding in the high Stara Planina mountains.
The Central Balkan National Park is full of wildlife and is home to the rare Brown Bear, Golden Eagle, Red deer, Wolves, Ural Owl, Wild Goats and Boar.
The flora of the region includes fields of Edelwiess. Alpine Roses, Beech, Fir and Spruce. It is a land of waterfalls, and mountain lakes, spectacular valleys, and traditional villages. The climate has four distinct seasons - a rainy Spring, a warm Summer, a sunny Autumn and mild snowy Winter. The region provides attractions at all times of the year.
Troyan has been our secret for some time, but with our small sympathetic and harmonising building developments, we are pleased to share it with you.
